One way to get a lot out of the Internet is to let it come to you. Many Web sites let you fill out a form to subscribe to their electronic newsletters, which are then delivered to you via e-mail, usually free. You can also subscribe to a mailing list (often referred to as a "listserv" for a common mailing-list computer system). These lists function very much like Usenet news groups, but deliver messages directly to your e-mail in box. You subscribe to a mailing list by sending an e-mail message that looks something like this: "subscribe mailinglist Your Name." The Liszt Web site catalogs a searchable database of more than 85,000 mailing lists and includes information on how to subscribe to them.
