About the News Digest
News Digest items are summaries of newspaper and
magazine articles that provide information that helps you
look out for yourself. Each day we digest 5 to 10 items
of interest from the mainstream media.
The news digest works in several ways:
- At the top level, when you click on that
"News" icon over at the left, you are
taken to the Daily News Digest, where you'll find
the latest "Looking Out for Yourself"
news. At this level, the news is sorted by date,
with the newest items listed first.
- As you delve deeper into the site via the
"Contents" or "News" areas,
the news works more like a file folder full of
clippings related to the topic you are interested
in. At this level, the news is sorted by
relevance to the topic at hand, with the items
most relevant to the topic listed first.
- If you don't feel like visiting our site to read
the News Digest, you can subscribe to our free
e-mail newsletter. All you have to do to receive
the newsletter is check the "subscribe to
newsletter" box when you register as a
"Looking Out for Yourself" member. If
you have already registered, just go to the
members area to make sure you've requested the
newsletter. If you no longer want to receive the
newsletter, just un-check the box.
- You can also create your own view of the news by
using the "Search" function. You can
always do a quick search of the area you are in
by entering
search terms in the box at the bottom of the page.
Or you can go to the "Search the News"
page to do a more thorough investigation. We plan
to beef up this capability over the next few
months to give you a personal version of the
"Looking Out for Yourself" News Digest
(and of the e-mail newsletter).
