Sitting at a desk and using a computer all day keeps your arms bent and gives your arm extension muscles few opportunities to move. You can correct this pattern by doing arm extension exercises that engage and strengthen your triceps muscles.
The quickest, simplest way to exercise your triceps is to stand up:
- hold a light dumbbell with both hands,
- with your arms over your head and your arms bent with the weight behind your head, and
- straighten your arms so that they are go up over your head, keeping your arms next to your ears throughout.
This video gives a detailed explanation of the classic overhead triceps extension exercise using a dumbbell.
This video shows how to strengthen your triceps with a Thera-Band.
Dips are a classic exercise for strengthening the triceps. This video shows how to do triceps dips using a chair (don’t use a wheeled office for this one; you don’t want the chair moving at all during the exercise).
